The Heart of East Yorkshire Awards is an annual event to recognise the remarkable and inspirational people within our community,now in its 5th year.

They celebrate the individuals who have done extraordinary things. From children with the hearts of lions to community volunteers who go the extra mile for others, we see some terrific examples of people in our community who deserve our recognition. The prestigious awards – chosen from 11 categories – provide an excellent opportunity for local companies to partner the Hull Daily Mail to celebrate the incredible people in our local community.

Every year at the Mail we publish countless stories about inspiring people doing remarkable things. The response from our readers is always the same; they are positive, encouraging and proud. So get involved today & nominate someone special & deserving with the chance to join us for the awards night at the KCOM Stadium on Thursday 13th September 2018.

A special award that recognises an outstanding community contribution or action in East Yorkshire.

Local Hero

The Local Hero award will recognise remarkable acts of courage or selflessness by an ordinary member of the community. This might be someone who has helped to save a life or acted in a courageous way in their community.

Inspiring Youngster

There are thousands of terrific youngsters out there, but we’re looking for someone, aged 16 or under, who deserves special recognition. This could be someone who has made a contribution to their community or overcome major setbacks to achieve a personal goal.

Child of Courage

Do you know a youngster, aged 16 or under, who has had to endure heartache or pain and still showed a shining spirit? This could go to a child who has fought against illness or shown bravery beyond their years.

Business in the Community Award

An individual, group or organisation who go an extra mile in offering a service available to the public.

Charity Champion

Our Charity Champion will highlight an individual or group whose charitable work has made a significant impact to a worthy cause. This could be someone who raises money regularly or who has generated significant funds for a chosen charity or charities.

Business in the Community

Businesses across East Yorkshire make a huge contribution to their community, whether by donating money and time or supporting local causes. This award highlights an exceptional case of a company making a real contribution to their local community.

Parent/Guardian of the Year

For this award, we would like you to nominate yourself or a parent you know, explaining why this year has been their best yet and examples of what makes them so wonderful. This could be your partner or a special friend that really is someone extra special. It could be a parent who selflessly gives up their life to care for their child, or a guardian who dedicates their time to fostering children. It could also be a parent who, despite their own challenges, always puts their children first.

Emergency Services Award

An award to honour the uniformed officers who go beyond their call of duty to help others. We want to hear about the police officers, doctors, nurses and fire officers who deserve recognition.
